01

The challenge

Bigote Dorado is Rappi's annual restaurant awards. Users across Colombia, Peru and Ecuador nominate restaurants and vote for them. This is a custom web application rather than a store: it needs voting logic per country, sign-in through Rappi's user accounts, category management for the awards, and an architecture that holds up when the voting window opens and the traffic arrives all at once.

02

What we built

We built the platform as a custom Next.js application with voting infrastructure for the three countries, Rappi user authentication, and category management for the awards structure. GTM tracks events during the voting window. The platform is built to run the awards cycle again every year without a rebuild.

Key features

  • Multi-country voting logic (CO, PE, EC)
  • Rappi user authentication
  • Category management for awards
  • High-traffic event architecture
  • GTM event tracking
  • Annual awards cycle infrastructure

Results

The voting platform is live in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador. Reach figures are still being verified.

The operator note

Rappi operates at a user volume where a voting window can generate heavy concurrent traffic, so load was a design input from the start. This project is also our answer when someone asks whether we only do Shopify. When the right tool is a custom Next.js application, that is what we build. The trade-off of an annual event platform is that it sits idle most of the year and has to wake up without surprises.
