Colombian Coffees Australia imports roasted coffee from Colombia and sells it to Australian cafés, venues and households. We built one Vendure platform that runs the brand catalogue, the online store and the wholesale portal.

The challenge
The importer holds exclusive Australian rights to 24 Colombian roasted-coffee brands. Two of them, Café Quindío and Dios Mío, launch first with 13 SKUs between them, alongside one or two brands roasted locally. Retail matters. The business, though, is built on wholesale: cafés and venues ordering by the pallet, on account, with prices negotiated per customer.
Shopify is the default answer for an Australian coffee store, and we have built many Shopify stores. It is weak where this business is strong. Per-account price lists, minimum order quantities per brand, approval of new trade accounts and on-account payment all end up as paid apps and workarounds. The client needed one platform that treats a venue ordering a pallet and a household ordering a bag as the same catalogue with different rules.
What we built
We built the platform on Vendure, starting from our own Vendure platform templates: a Vendure server with PostgreSQL and Redis, a TanStack Start storefront, Docker on our own infrastructure and Cloudflare in front. The first module was a catalogue with brand pages and no checkout, so each brand had a home for its social content while stock and pricing were settled.
The B2C store followed. The B2B portal is the larger piece. It models companies and the venues under them, assigns a price list to each account, enforces a minimum order of one pallet per brand and plans delivery routes. New trade accounts are approved by the client before they can order, and approved accounts pay on account. A journal plugin carries editorial content alongside the catalogue.
Every module reads the same product data. A change to a SKU shows up in the brand page, the retail store and the wholesale price lists at once.
Results
The catalogue and brand pages were built first. The B2C store goes live in November 2026 at colombiancoffees.com.au, and the B2B wholesale portal follows it. Retail and trade figures will be reported once the portal has been through a full ordering cycle.

The operator note
We chose Vendure over Shopify because of the wholesale portal, and we would make the same call again. The retail store alone would have been quicker on Shopify. Once per-account pricing, pallet minimums and account approval are on the list, an open-source platform we host and extend ourselves ends up simpler to build and carries no monthly platform or app fees.
The trade-off is that we carry the operations. There is no Shopify support desk behind the client; there is us, our templates and our infrastructure. For a business selling 24 brands to trade customers, that is the right place for the responsibility to sit.
