KchakaFitness is a fitness studio in Colombia that needed its own booking and membership platform. We built it from scratch with Epayco payments and Twilio SMS reminders.

01

The challenge

Fitness studios in Colombia compete on retention. Most lose a large share of their members in the first three months. KchakaFitness wanted a booking platform built for them rather than an off-the-shelf tool, with Epayco payments, member management and automated SMS, so that occasional visitors became regulars and fewer people booked a class and did not show up.

02

What we built

We built a React and Vite front end on a Nest.js and PostgreSQL backend. Members book classes in real time, Twilio sends the SMS reminders, Epayco takes the payments, and the studio manages content through a custom CMS. Member progress tracking is built in.

The operator note

The reminder timing came from knowing when Colombians read a message and when it feels intrusive, rather than from the default sequence of a US SaaS. We have run fitness-adjacent operations here. Choosing Epayco over MercadoPago was an operator call too. You know which gateway fits which use case in Colombia from having processed payments across several businesses. The trade-off of a custom build is that the studio owns the maintenance, and we accepted that over a tool that would have fought their schedule.
