The challenge
A small business in the United States that wants to sell online usually ends up on a hosted platform, paying a monthly fee plus an app for every feature the base plan lacks. Wonder Creations sells craft activity kits for children, party packs built from those kits and bulk packs for schools. The owner needed a store she could edit without a developer, one that would not drain margin on platform fees before the first order.
The product has a structure that a template store handles badly. Kits come in themes, party packs are composed of kits, and schools buy in tiers. The store also had to work in Spanish as well as English from day one.
What we built
We built the store on Vendure 3.7 with a TanStack Start storefront, running on our own infrastructure with Cloudflare in front. Stripe takes card payments. Shipping is a flat rate with free shipping over a threshold, which is the simplest rule a small shop can explain to a customer.
The storefront is bilingual, English and Spanish, with locale-prefixed URLs and the same slugs in both languages. Site content such as the announcement bar, homepage headings and footer text is edited from the Vendure dashboard, so a copy change does not need a deployment. An SEO layer covers titles, metadata, hreflang, sitemaps and structured data for products, breadcrumbs, the organisation and the homepage FAQ.
Go-live ran as a checklist. We configured tax and shipping zones, removed the placeholder payment method so no order could be placed without money changing hands, confirmed the production build was indexable while the staging site stayed out of Google, and ran a full order end to end before opening.
Results
The store is live at wondercreations.us and has taken Stripe card payments since September 2026. Sales figures belong to the owner and are not published here.

The operator note
Most agencies would have put this store on Shopify and billed the setup. We put it on Vendure because the owner pays no platform or app fees, and because the party packs and the school tiers were going to need custom code either way.
What we would do differently is start the payment account earlier. The code was ready before the Stripe account for the Florida LLC was, and a store that cannot take money is a brochure. The next time we open a US store we begin with the bank, the EIN and Stripe on day one.
