The challenge
CoffeeLink is not a single-brand store. It is a marketplace and directory for the Australian coffee industry: brand and roaster listings, product catalogues, lead capture and enquiry routing, a CRM layer and a multi-vendor cart, serving a market with one of the most demanding coffee cultures in the world. Shopify and WooCommerce were ruled out at the start. The platform needed multi-vendor product management, vendor-level enquiry routing and directory logic in the same system.
What we built
We built CoffeeLink from scratch on Vendure, an open-source TypeScript commerce framework that gave us the multi-vendor product model and custom entities the platform needed. The Next.js front end is fully custom, which kept control over the directory experience, the brand and roaster profile pages and the multi-vendor cart. Buyer enquiries route to the right vendor, and the CRM layer tracks each one through follow-up to conversion. MarketIQ sits underneath as the intelligence and automation layer: vendor performance analytics, category demand signals, vendor onboarding, listing updates and buyer communication. Stripe handles multi-vendor payments.

The operator note
CoffeeLink is the clearest example of what we build when the right answer is not Shopify. Vendure is an unusual choice in the Australian market, because most agencies default to the platform they already know. We chose it because the multi-vendor model, the custom entities and the TypeScript backend matched what CoffeeLink needed structurally. A familiar platform would have meant workarounds from day one. Integrating MarketIQ into a non-Shopify platform also proved something about our own tool: an automation suite that only works inside one ecosystem is a plugin, not a platform.
