01

The challenge

MyToys is a Colombian toy retailer in a category that lives on gifts and seasons. The buyer is usually a parent or a relative with an occasion in mind, a birthday, Christmas or a First Communion, and how much they will spend shifts sharply with the child's age and how much the occasion matters. The store had to absorb seasonal demand spikes and turn gift research into a completed purchase.

02

What we built

We built the Shopify store with gift discovery on top of the standard category browse: navigation by age and by occasion. Wishlists can be shared, so a child's list reaches the people buying for them. Klaviyo flows follow the gift calendar and go out ahead of each season rather than reacting to it. MercadoPago instalments cover the higher-ticket toys, and the seasonal promotion setup, Black Friday included, is ready to reuse each year.

The operator note

Buying a gift is a different psychology from buying for yourself. The money is going to someone else, which raises both the willingness to pay and the anxiety about getting it wrong. Building for the Colombian gift buyer means knowing which occasions matter, which price signals 'I cared' and which brands carry social credibility. The honest trade-off: occasion navigation adds upkeep, because every season someone has to refresh the collections, and we accepted that over a static tree that goes stale.
