PetitDesign sells personalised baby linen in Colombia, where a gift with the baby's name on it carries more weight than a generic one. We built the Shopify store that takes the name and birth details on the product page and carries them through to production.

The challenge
In Colombia a personalised baby gift does a job a generic one cannot. Baby showers, christenings, first birthdays and new-parent gifts all call for something with the baby's name on it: crib sheets with the name, a blanket with the birth date and weight. That is the market PetitDesign serves.
Shopify's standard product model has no place for that input. It does not handle customisation fields, and it has no notion of a made-to-order production workflow. On the buyer side, people need to type a name, a date and any extra text, see what they are getting, and trust that the product that arrives matches what they typed.
What we built
We built the store on Shopify with custom Liquid fields on the product page. The buyer enters the baby's name, the birth date and any extra text before adding to cart. Those values travel with the order as line item properties, so anyone handling the order can see the personalisation at every stage of fulfilment.
After the order comes a WhatsApp message that confirms the details with the buyer and sets out the production timeline. Klaviyo runs the made-to-order sequence: order confirmed, personalisation received, in production, dispatched.
Key features
- Custom Liquid personalisation input at product page level
- Name, birth date, and custom text fields
- Made-to-order fulfilment workflow with personalisation data
- WhatsApp post-order personalisation confirmation
- Klaviyo made-to-order communication sequence
- Gifting-first UX — occasion-based navigation and gift messaging
Results
The store is live with personalisation at product level, a made-to-order workflow and occasion-based navigation for gift buyers. Repeat orders are still being measured.

The operator note
The mistakes that matter here are social. A blanket that arrives with the name misspelled or the wrong birth date damages the relationship between the giver and the parents, and a refund does not fix that. That is why the WhatsApp confirmation and the Klaviyo production updates exist. We would not have added either to a store selling plain linen.
The cost is that every order now needs a human reply on WhatsApp. For a made-to-order product we think that is the right price to pay. If we did it again we would ask the buyer to check the details once more before paying, so the WhatsApp step is a backstop and not the only filter.
